Jim Bridge, an assistant at North Carolina State the last six seasons, has been named offensive line coach at Illinois. His hiring was announced Wednesday by Illini head coach Tim Beckman.   Bridge served as offensive line coach the past two seasons at N.C. State after he coached tight ends the previous four years.

Illinois junior golfer Thomas Pieters, the 2012 NCAA individual champion, plans to turn pro after the 2013 spring season, Illini coach Mike Small announced Tuesday. Pieters was Illinois’ top finisher in seven of 12 tournaments in 2012 and was named a first-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten.
